- He follows a Buffett / Graham value approach, buying companies at a significant discount to intrinsic value (Wikipedia), and his fund closed in September 2017 after underperforming the S&P 500 for several years.
- CNBC once dubbed him “The Prophet” (per Stansberry), and he is the author of four books, most recently The Art of Playing Defense (2021), co-author of The Art of Value Investing (2013) and a contributor to Poor Charlie's Almanack (2005).

- On Oct 28, Whitney Tilson's Daily posted: "A more skeptical take on Anthropic's numbers." Presents bear views on Anthropic's S-1 from Prof G Media's Mia Silverio (IPO timed at its "strongest point"; ~48% of revenue routed through AWS/Google Cloud/Azure, which are also competitors; ~$850B of mostly non-cancelable compute commitments implying est. $132-155B/yr compute costs from 2027; growth slowing from +144% to +45% QoQ), plus Steve Eisman and Michael Burry (Burry: circular financing with AMZN/MSFT/GOOGL/AVGO leaves the system "catastrophically vulnerable" on a pause, like 1998-2002 telecom vendor financing). Tilson: expects at least a $1.5T valuation that will inflate the AI bubble "though I suspect not for very long"; ANTH won't be a good long or short at its IPO in about a month; he believes AI is a bubble but isn't shorting or buying puts on any AI stocks. No Tesla/SpaceX/Musk content. Source
- On Oct 28, Promo note posted: Tilson and Jeff Brown's "AI super chip" presentation aired this morning (chip claimed 50x faster than Nvidia's; pivotal announcement Nov 5; Stock Gumshoe guesses Cerebras CBRS / Innodata INOD). Marketing, low signal. Source
- On Oct 27, Whitney Tilson's Daily posted: "Anthropic's IPO filing – and what it could mean for the AI bubble." Tilson calls Anthropic's S-1 numbers "very impressive" (revenue up 1,368% YoY vs compute costs up 300%, Q2 operating profit, only ~$9.4B burned) and says he's "never written a negative word about Anthropic," while staying very bearish on OpenAI ("the greatest cash-burning furnace of all time"). Biggest risk: ~$657B of compute commitments (plus est. $125-150B more Google TPUs not in the table) if demand or pricing disappoints; thinks most users will settle for cheaper open-source models costing 90% less. Concedes the strong filing "increases the chances that I'm wrong – or, more likely, simply early" on his AI-bubble call. Doesn't disagree with Polymarket odds of a $1.5T-$2T+ valuation. Source
- On Oct 27, TESLA/SPACEX/MUSK FLAG (mild) — Stansberry Digest guest essay "The Winners and Losers of the AI Bubble" (adapted from his Oct 23 Daily): says the AI boom is a bubble "starting to burst" like March 2000; cites a Bloomberg-data chart showing credit-default-swap spreads "blowing out for CoreWeave, Oracle (ORCL), and SpaceX (SPCX), but not for Amazon and Meta," and quotes Meta's 14C filing that capital raises by Alphabet, SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI have made raising capital "increasingly challenging." Flags three kinds of AI circularity (financing, valuation pumping, demand); META/AMZN/GOOGL/MSFT as long-term winners, debt-heavy "junk" like CoreWeave as losers. Ends with the Oct 28 Jeff Brown "AI super chip" promo. Source

- On Oct 26, Whitney Tilson's Daily said, “My perfect record calling seven bubbles; Elon Musk agrees with me – partially.” Tilson says Musk (in an X post replying to Chamath) is right that hundreds of AI “neoclouds” will blow up, but that they differ on what happens next: Musk thinks AI-infrastructure spending will keep soaring, which is why he is building new data centers with SpaceX, while Tilson thinks the neoclouds will be the first domino to fall as the AI bubble bursts. He quotes a friend saying Musk is “probably half telling the truth” and is trying to scare potential customers away from buying compute from anyone but him. Tilson also restated his AI-bubble call (CoreWeave imploding), said he is skeptical of the low P/Es on MU and NVDA because they reflect cyclical-peak earnings, and cited Apollo's Torsten Slok on no AI payoff outside tech. - On Oct 26, Yahoo Finance reported on Tilson's Bloomberg Surveillance interview, in which he said he ignores headlines and buys “quality companies that I think their earnings will be double what they are today in five years” (about 15% a year), and the article applies that approach to Amazon, Alphabet and Meta. - On Oct 26, a Stansberry Digest teaser said Tilson and Jeff Brown of Brownstone Research will present an “AI super chip” opportunity on Wednesday, Oct 28, which is marketing and a low signal. Source
- On Oct 17, Tilson's last X post said he has quit X and is “boycotting everything related to Elon Musk,” and he now posts on Facebook and Instagram (Whitneytilsonofficial), so X scans will likely stay empty. This item is older than 24 hours and was logged once on the first run. Source
